WHAT IS DUAL ENROLLMENT?

DUAL ENROLLMENT IS A PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES FUNDING FOR CURRENT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO TAKE APPROVED COLLEGE-LEVEL COURSEWORK FOR CREDIT TOWARDS BOTH HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS. FOR EXAMPLE, IF A STUDENT TAKES AN APPROVED DUAL ENROLLMENT US HISTORY COURSE, THIS STUDENT WILL RECEIVE CREDIT FOR THIS COURSE ON BOTH HIS HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT AND A SEPARATE COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT. WHAT IS CORE CURRICULUM?

Core Curriculum is  a set of common courses  required of all undergraduate students who attend a University System of Georgia institution, regardless of major.  Courses taken through Dual Enrollment may be able to satisfy  Core Curriculum requirements at a USG institution. 

GPA & QUALITY POINTS

Dual Enrollment courses will receive  1 quality point added to the  Weighted GPA if the course number begins with the following prefixes:

  • 23 – English

  • 26 – Life Sciences

  • 27 – Math

  • 40 – Physical Sciences

  • 45 – Social Studies

  • 60-64, 66 – World Languages

FIRST TIME DUAL ENROLLMENT CHECKLIST

If you are applying for Dual Enrollment for the first time, you must either attend a Dual Enrollment Information Session or watch the Dual Enrollment Information video. Use the following checklist as a guide so you do not miss any steps.

Participating Colleges and Universities

While there are dozens of colleges and universities that participate in Dual Enrollment, the schools that Marietta High School students attend most frequently are Chattahoochee Tech, Kennesaw State University, and Young Harris College.
